The book is here!!!

At long last, the book is finally available! It's been a long journey, but it's been worth it. Some of you know that I thought this book was done three years ago, yet each time I was ready to release it, I'd run into one brick wall or another - I guess it was God's way of telling me that the time wasn't right yet. As it turned out, there were more lessons I learned and as a result, I added several chapters that weren't in the original version.

Some of you may also know that I changed my name after printing about 50 copies of the first edition of this book, so if you were to search for the book on Google, you might still see it listed under my former name too. So, in answer to a question that's bound to arise, I did not steal someone else's work. I underwent a legal name change. Who knows, maybe those original 50 copies will be worth something someday! :)

I hope that you'll visit my bookstore and consider purchasing a copy. And while you're there, pick up a few copies for your knitting friends and/or your knitting ministry. If I may say so myself, I think it would make a wonderful gift - and just in time for Mother's Day! If you read it, I'd love to hear your feedback. Please feel free to leave comments here and/or at my bookstore.
Since providing support to women who have been victims of sexual violence is a primary mission of Soulful Knitting Ministries, and because I live in Virginia, I've decided to donate a portion of the proceeds of book sales to the Virginia Department of Social Services' Office of Domestic and Sexual Violence. I'm also thrilled to report that by the end of this month, I intend to donate a dozen prayer shawls to this wonderful organization. Thanks to all of you who through your prayers, your knitting, your yarn and financial contributions have made this project possible.

Yarn-winding party

Thanks to everyone who came out on a cold, damp and dreary Saturday for a yarn-winding party. The get-together was hosted by the wonderful ladies, and men(!), of Knots for Love, the prayer shawl ministry of a church in Glen Allen, VA. We spent over three hours cutting, knotting and winding "shawl balls" to be used to knit prayer shawls. In addition to providing great fellowship and lots of laughs, the food was great too!
